"Sacred Space" evening coming up soon

In about a week and a half, Feb 22nd, at 7PM, we’ll be offering the last Sacred Space event until the end of May.

Our theme for this evening will be “emptying”, or letting go. Almost all major religions have the idea of letting go as an important part of spiritual development. For some, the idea of “letting go” seems scary! And truth be told, in many ways it can be! We might thing of letting go as a loss of some kind. Well, in some respects it for sure is. The ultimate letting go is the letting go of our lives so we can move from this life to the next as freely as possible.

But what about some “letting go” that may be good for us, but still hard to do: Smoking is hard for some to let go of. Or how about letting go of TV time so we can exercise or engage in something more energizing or life-giving. Or how about letting go of guilt, or anger, so we can live more freely?

Usually when the mystics talked about “letting go”, they meant it in terms of letting go of some part of our lives that hinders us from living more fully. There are things in our lives we may need to let go of in order to be more present with each other more, and with God more.

Consider the things in your life that keep you from living more fully. Consider the things in your life that hold you back from a more full participation with God and others. What do you need to “let go” of in your life? And this may help your Lenten journey this year – Ash Wednesday will only be two weeks from our Sacred Space evening.

We’ll be looking at this more along on the 22nd. I invite you to come to Abiding Savior that evening and be a part.
