Sabbath time finding the center

Here’s a website called The Moth. They specialize in telling stories! Some are funny stories, some are sad, poignant, miraculous, etc.

It started many years ago when a group of friends were on a porch somewhere, and they began to tell stories – and “remembered” once again what human beings have known for thousands of years – that we love to tell and hear stories: Stories – about life, about mistakes, about hopes, about love (found, lost, and/or lost and found), about being human!

When my daughter was little, as we were putting her to bed, she used to ask us to tell her stories about when we were little. And that got me to remembering things I’d forgotten, about things that had happened, about places we’d gone when I was a kid, about the fun we had, or the accidents I can laugh about now.

My son more wants me to make up stories- stories about super heroes and what they can do, or the powers they have. Basically he seems to want me to make up a comic book for the mind. But stories none-the-less!

Have you ever been around a campfire? At some point, what always happens? Stories start to get told! Can you remember a good scary story you heard around a campfire? Remember the one about the guy who lost his arm and goes around looking for it? And he found it… you know who had it? YOU DID!!! Remember that one?

Well, they called it The Moth, as they were on the porch telling stories, there were moths flying around the bulb on the porch…. What they found people still do as someone begins to tell a good story… they come around the story-teller like moths around a light bulb. They have developed to such a degree, more and more people started coming around the story-tellers, that they had to increase their venues and have spread across the country.

Take some time… some “Sabbath” time… to hear a good story on The Moth! Remember what your ancestors did – return to some ancient ways… and remember! Here’s the website… enjoy!
