Lenten Moment

Continuing with the series
                                            "Lord, Open My...   "
                             This week it's                           "... Life."

What does that mean...
                                                an Open Life?

What characterizes and Open Life?
              ...An openness to new things?
            ...Being more available?
-to friends, family, people in general?
...Courage in the face of fear?

I think that last one is the one we encounter the most!

From the Dean Koontz

    "One Door Away From Heaven"

In the beginning of the book the main character, Micky, a young lady in her mid twenties, coming out of a short jail stint, was vising her Aunt before trying to get things right with her life, to start a new life.
     But she was scared!

The Aunt advised her young adult niece:

     "Change isn't easy, Micky.

      Changing the way you live
means changing the way you think.

          Changing the way you think
means changing what you believe                                                              about life.

        That's hard, sweetie.

When we make our own misery,
             we sometimes cling to it
even when we want so bad to change,
because the misery is something we know.
                  The misery is comfortable."

The Misery is comfortable!
The misery we create is comfortable!

     Because it's what we know

Better the Devil you know than the Devil you don't!

  Opening our lives --
     ...to new things
         ...to new new ideas,
...to whole new way of thinking and living...
                                 ...and believing...

                     can be HARD!
                     can be SCARY!
                  can be THREATENING!

It can...!

Because it requires a lot from us.
Maybe it requires us to give up our misery?

"Lord, Open My Life"

"Do you know what you're asking?"

"No, probably not"
