Elie Wiesel has died...
Eliezer "Elie" Wiesel (Tattoo number A-7713 from Auschwitz Concentration Camp) was born September 30, 1928, and die yesterday. He was a Romanian-born American Jewish writer, professor, political activist, Holocaust survivor, and Nobel Laureate; he authored 57 books, one of them being "Night", which I think was written in 1955 or so. It was based on his experiences as a prisoner in the Auschwitz and Buchenwald Camps. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986, where the Norwegian Nobel Committee called him a "messenger to mankind," stating that through his struggle to come to terms with "his own personal experience of total humiliation and of the utter contempt for humanity shown in Hitler's death camps", he has delivered a message "of peace, atonement and human dignity" to humanity.
