Lenten Message Monday Feb 27 2012

Sometimes, even in our world of plenty (stuff and things, and people and activity), we may feel the desolation of drought

The drought of not enough time, God, love, friends... real community. The drought of not having enough time to spend with the people we love, not enough time to do the things we love to do - those things that feed the deeper part of us... not with money, but with the fullness of joy and love and God.

Perhaps we've felt this thirst of desolation for so long... we've forgotten what it feels like to not be thirsty anymore... and have accepted this thirst as a part of life.

IT does take a lot of energy to stay out of the drought/craziness of our culture. But the net gain is worth it.

It is.

Sadly, sometimes we get so used to the drought... we forget there even IS another choice!
